“I took your workshop and I had to share. I am 60 and just this year experiencing more stiffness in my hips, abductors/adductors. I work out with a personal trainer twice per week and have had less range of motion unless I get up and stretch before my work outs and still have more stiffness. Also, I had a mastectomy last year and my upper body range of motion is inhibited by scar tissue that I regularly massage and stretch. Fast forward to yesterday. I went to my first work out since your class on Saturday and my stiffness was virtually g-o-n-e! I knew I felt better and do home yoga and felt very stretched out, but my work out that entails more movement than my gentle yoga at home was totally different. Thanks again!!!! You are awesome! PS - I have to say for those who are dealing with mastectomy recovery, this class (which I also did 5-ish months after surgery) has been a godsend.”  - 60-year-old breast cancer/mastectomy survivor

“Beth’s class has transformed what I think of as a good class. I used to think it was all about pushing myself to a limit. Beth’s class has shown me that more self awareness and subtlety of movement brings slow and steady strength without injury. Also, I am learning about moving my body in ways that awaken the underutilized muscles that I need to engage in order to stay healthy as I age.” - Susie P.

“Please let Beth know that I had very excellent results from her workshop on Sat for deep tissue work on lower extremities. I've had a painful knot in my lower buttock (over the sit bone) for a few weeks, which kept me from getting a good night’s sleep. As of this morning...pain all gone!!!!” - Donna (workshop attendee)

“I always appreciate how incredibly clear you are. There are all these nuances that I miss in other classes...." - Sean

"I have been working with Beth Award as a private yoga instructor on a weekly basis for two years. Having practiced yoga (Hatha, Ashtanga) for over 20 years, I have had the benefit of learning from many teachers in a variety of classes, workshops, and retreats. Beth is without doubt a highly skilled practitioner and teacher. She is able to adapt a student’s practice to their needs in the moment, flexibly assessing the appropriate goals for a given session. The wonderful thing about working with Beth in this way is that each day is a new lesson, starting from the place where I am at that moment in time. As my body has aged (now 63) my practice has changed. Beth knows my limitations and my abilities and works with me. I always look forward to our sessions. I can recommend Beth very highly to students at all levels, and I do so without reservation." - Stephen S.

"My private lessons with Beth measurably improved my quality of life. About thirty years ago I was involved in a bicycling accident which left me with injuries I never fully healed from. These old wounds, coupled with working at a computer all day, left me in a near constant state of pain in my lower back and neck, and I had to maintain a steady diet of Ibuprofen to get through a night's sleep. With regular lessons with Beth, many of my symptoms nearly completely subsided. Thanks to Beth, I now understand the significance of a strong core muscle group and leverage it nearly all the time. Put simply, it feels good to have a better sense of balance and strength in my body that I never had before, despite being active in many sports when I was younger. With Beth's tempo, patience, and encouragement, it made for a great but not overly taxing workout. I can't recommend Beth enough as an instructor. And I would highly recommend Yoga to anyone looking for a better, more balanced sense of self (physical and mental)." - Matt M.

“My private lesson with Beth was inspiring, useful, therapeutic, relaxing, and a whole bunch of other happy adjectives that are too many to list. After asking beforehand what I wanted to work on, out of my rambling description she put together exactly the program I needed for the lesson and for creating a practice at homeIt feels like I’m talking about business or administrative management instead of yoga, but Beth’s attention to detail was impeccable. Beyond helping me identify seemingly minor but essential changes to make in how I position and move my body, she focused on small changes essential to achieving my big picture goals of a regular home practice and a more attentive and rewarding practice in class.” – Alysha Y.

“I’ve been studying yoga for 5 years with some very good teachers, but Beth’s ability to explain yoga concepts clearly is unparalleled. She is a gifted teacher and communicator. The moderate pace of her class is deceptive: the student learns far more than in fast-paced, supposedly high-level classes elsewhere.” – Kim S.
