"I have been working with Beth Award as a private yoga instructor on a weekly basis for two years. Having practiced yoga (Hatha, Ashtanga) for over 20 years, I have had the benefit of learning from many teachers in a variety of classes, workshops, and retreats. Beth is without doubt a highly skilled practitioner and teacher. She is aware of the potential for both injury and healing in yoga practice. She is able to adapt a student’s practice to their needs in the moment, flexibly assessing the appropriate goals for a given session.

"The wonderful thing about working with Beth in this way is that each day is a new lesson, starting form the where I am at that moment in time. As my body has aged (now 63) my practice has changed. Beth knows my limitations and my abilities and works with me to reach deeper. I always look forward to our sessions. I can recommend Beth very highly to students of yoga at all levels, and I do so without reservation." - Stephen S.

"My private lessons with Beth measurably improved my quality of life. About thirty years ago I was involved in a bicycling accident which left me with injuries I never fully healed from. These old wounds, coupled with working at a computer all day, left me in a near constant state of pain in my lower back and neck, and I had to maintain a steady diet of Ibuprofen to get through a night's sleep. With regular lessons with Beth, many of my symptoms nearly completely subsided. Thanks to Beth, I now understand the significance of a strong core muscle group and leverage it nearly all the time. Put simply, it feels good to have a better sense of balance and strength in my body that I never had before, despite being active in many sports when I was younger. What was especially surprising to me about Yoga was the aerobic benefit. This, coupled with Beth's tempo, patience, and encouragement, made for a great but not overly taxing workout. I can't recommend Beth enough as an instructor. And I would highly recommend Yoga to anyone looking for a better, more balanced sense of self (physical and mental)." - Matt M.

“My private lesson with Beth was inspiring, useful, therapeutic, relaxing, and a whole bunch of other happy adjectives that are too many to list. After asking beforehand what I wanted to work on, out of my rambling description she put together exactly the program I needed for the lesson and for creating a practice at homeIt feels like I’m talking about business or administrative management instead of yoga, but Beth’s attention to detail was impeccable. Beyond helping me identify seemingly minor but essential changes to make in how I position and move my body, she focused on small changes essential to achieving my big picture goals of a regular home practice and a more attentive and rewarding practice in class.” – Alysha Y.

“I’ve been studying yoga for 5 years with some very good teachers, but Beth’s ability to explain yoga concepts clearly is unparalleled. She is a gifted teacher and communicator. The moderate pace of her class is deceptive: the student learns far more than in fast-paced, supposedly high-level classes elsewhere.” – Kim S.

“In 2009 I started a beginning class with Beth. From the very first class, I knew Beth was different. Every class has a thought-provoking theme, frequently read to us from well-worn books bursting with bookmark tabs. She cares about keeping her students safe, always demonstrating what not to do as well as what to do, encouraging us to take it easy with the more difficult asanas. And, I laugh out loud at least once per class.

“Her patient and compassionate teaching style has helped me progress further and faster than I ever thought I could in the physical aspect of yoga, as well as the mental. After class my body feels great, but the lift in my spirit and quietude in my mind last for at least the rest of the day. I highly recommend Beth’s classes for anyone who loves (or wants to love) the practice of yoga.” – Lesley R.

“One of my favorite teachers is Beth. Her classes have been transformational for me. Her passion, sincerity and the intentional sense of community she creates in her classes establishes a space to work in that is warm, supportive and exciting. As a part of my intense enthusiasm for yoga I have felt a strong urge to bring close friends who have never done yoga to try it. Beth is the teacher I take them to.” – Cara

“I am just emailing to tell you how much I love Beth as my instructor. I am new to yoga and love her style of instructing. She has made me comfortable in what would otherwise be a very strange environment to me.”
